The History
FROM A SMALL GARDEN CENTER TO THE MARKET YOU KNOW TODAY.
Samascott’s Garden Market, formerly known as Brosen’s, has been part of the community for more than 50 years. What started as a garden center with 13 greenhouses and a small food market became part of the Samascott family in 2005.
The early years came with a few unexpected challenges. Sitting on low ground, the store experienced two major floods between 2005 and 2010. Rather than let the water get the last word, we decided it was time for a change.
In 2011, construction began on a brand-new 5,000-square-foot market with an attached 13,000-square-foot greenhouse; this time, built on higher ground. It was a big project, but it meant we could build a better, more resilient home for the market and our customers. Then, in April 2012, Samascott’s Garden Market officially opened its doors.
More than a decade later, we’re still here - selling fresh produce, plants, prepared foods, garden supplies, gifts, and plenty of good things in between. And while the market has changed quite a bit over the years, one thing hasn’t: we’re proud to be part of the community and grateful to everyone who has helped us grow along the way.
